At Denim ‘n Dirt Ranch, we provide consultation to other mental health professionals as well as equine clinicians to help each of them with their own practices.

After 40 years of clinical inside-office experience — and still counting, now in my barn office — and 20 years of Animal Assisted Psychotherapy experience, I can say with confidence that the eco-psychology modality of Animal Assisted Psychotherapy facilitates client and patient change and personal growth most effectively, and often more quickly, than traditional in-office talk psychotherapy. At the very least, Animal Assisted Psychotherapy at Denim ‘n Dirt Ranch is a wonderful adjunct therapy for inside-office patients, even if they see another clinician. The animal images and experiences are imprinted throughout that person’s brain after being here, which facilitates a deeper understanding, awareness, and emotional growth.

Who May Benefit from Having Consultations with Dr. Wick

Our consultation program is designed for seasoned clinicians who want to learn to integrate their clinical experience, their knowledge, and clinical style with their Equine Assisted or Animal Assisted Psychotherapy modality. Beginning clinicians can of course also benefit. As my mother, an Olympic skier, once told me: “Jane, if you want to be really good, you have to ski with the best and most experienced.” We welcome all levels of experience and look forward to helping each of you learn more about your Animal Assisted or Equine Assisted Psychotherapy practices.
