Our Animals
At Denim ‘n Dirt Ranch, our horses and donkeys are not just animals — they are our co-therapists. We deeply respect and care for each one of them, and we are grateful for the healing work they make possible every single day.
Equines are herd animals, much like humans. They rely on one another for safety, companionship, care, and survival. Because they are prey animals in the wild, they have developed an extraordinary sensitivity to their environment — including the emotional states of the people around them. This makes them uniquely powerful partners in the therapeutic process.
Horses and donkeys of all sizes live here at the ranch. Each one has a distinct personality, and each one brings something different to a session. Some are gentle and calm; others are more spirited and challenging. All of them are honest — they respond to what is real, not what we pretend to feel.
All work with our equines takes place on the ground — no riding. This is intentional. Being on the ground with a 1,000-pound animal creates a very different kind of experience than riding one. It invites presence, awareness, and genuine connection.
